How to Install Magento 2 Extensions Using the Web Setup Wizard

Hi guys,

In this post I’ll show you how to how to install Magento 2 extensions in your web store by using the Web Setup Wizard. Let’s get right to it.

Before installation (Prerequisites)

First you need to download the extension you want to install and move that extension’s folders from the archive to your Magento 2 root directory.

1. Login to your Magento 2 Admin Panel.

Next, login to your Magento 2 store’s admin panel (as shown in the screenshot below).

 

2. Open Component Manager

Next, in the Magento 2 admin panel, open the Compnent Manager console and select the Web Setup Wizard option (as shown below)

 

3. Navigate to System -> Web Setup Wizard -> Component Manager

 

4. Enable extension you want

Then, in the list of components available, find the Magento 2 extension you want to enable/install. Once you’ve done that, press “Select” under the “Actions” column and choose “Enable” (as shown in the screenshot below).

 

5. Start the Readiness Check

If you see an error like the one shown in the screenshot below, try to setup a Magento 2 cron job and resolve other issues first before proceeding with the above step.

 

7. Readiness Check OK

If you don’t encounter any errors when performing the step above, just hit ‘Next’.

 

8. Create a Backup

Make sure you create a backup (as shown below). This might take some time though so give it a while.

Once the backup process is complete just hit the ‘Next’ button.

 

9. You are ready to enable the extension in Magento 2.

Now, just hit ‘Enable’ as shown in the screenshot below. This steps takes a little time though so if the page seems unresponsive give it some time. Don’t refresh the page or it will cause an error.

And that’s it. You have just enabled the extension on your Magento 2 web store.
